In dit verhaaltje gaan wij een heleboel namen droppen. Dat is niet om interessant te doenDat doen we omdat we graag willen onderstrepen hoe belangrijk de plaats is die Lesbian inneemt binnen de prog/doom/psychedelic metal. De band bestaat uit ex-leden van The Accüsed, Asva en Golgothan Sunrise. Ze zitten op Holy Mountain Records en komen uit Seattle. De fijnproevers weten nu al voldoende en hebben hun kaartje waarschijnlijk al gereserveerd. Maar voor de twijfelaars gaan we nog even door.
Lesbian heeft net hun nieuwe album Stratospheria Cubensis afgeleverd. Die is geproduceerd door Randall Dunn, die eerder al werkte met Earth, Boris en Sunn O)))). De CD heeft een wat introspectiever, ja zelfs dromerig karakter. Daarmee onderstreept Lesbian dat ze niet voor een gat te vangen zijn en met hun muziek vele kanten op kunnen.
U bent nog steeds niet overtuigd? Voor wie echt hardleers voegen we er dan nog graag aan toe dat deze band zeker niet gemist mag worden door wie van Voivod, Coroner, Pink Floyd, Darkthrone of King Crimson houdt.

ORTEGA
Ortega is a four-piece sludge/doom collective from The North of The Netherlands. Four men tell a tale of the sea wich is told in a broad and visual manner. the sound is best described as dark metal balanced with spheric soundscapes together with slow and heavy riffs.
The album 1634 was recorded and mixed by JB van der Wal (Dr. Doom, Herder, Aborted), who is also known for his work for Dr. Doom, Greyline, Grinding Halt and Suffering Quota. 1634 was released as an conceptalbum and received many great reviews.
The band went back into the studio in 2011, again with JB van der Wal, to record their follow-up EP A Flame Never Rises On Its Own, which will by Badger Records in 2012.

Where early life used to contain daily fire, towards the dirty thirties one’s grim outlook on life seems to be a point of few and one’s best efforts often end up to be all for nothing.
Yet, hailing from a dark cooling cell in a boiling green house somewhere between the brown seawater of the North Sea and the bleak city of Leiden, Snowburner relights the icy fire in disappointed souls bringing sunny stoner-blues with a scarred and charred heart.
