Componist en pianist Philipp Rüttgers is gefascineerd door akoestische en elektronische geluidswerelden. Op uitnodiging van het Arnhemse label “HEAVEN HEAVEN” nam Philipp een geïmproviseerde live-set op met piano en synthesizers. Daarin probeert hij een homogeen verhaal te vertellen met langzaam veranderende vormen en improvisatie. Dat vraagt honderd procent focus en concentratie. Philpp zegt daarover: “Muziek is een veilige plek waar je jouw artistieke visie van zelfperfectie ervaart en vormt, wetende dat er geen perfectie is, aangezien de tijd je perceptie altijd verandert.”

 

Philipp’s Music is unpredictable in its utterances, alternates melody and improvisation in an almost architectural way, mixes influences from contemporary composed and improvised ways, lets jazz blend into pop music and vice versa, and builds a musical empire that you can hardly find elsewhere.

“Given the idea that every sound has a quality and emotional value my focus on performing this instant improvisation in “speaking” is to develop those qualities and emotions, connecting the individual sounds and shaping them into a story. Every decision I make during the performance relates to what has happened before.”
