Op vrijdag 14 december geven de twee Arnhemse bands John Frost en Potential Criminal een dubbelconcert bij De Kubus op het Gele Rijdersplein. Tight beats, melodic grooves, smooth rap flows and catchy vocals are key words when one wants to give a proper description of the band’s characteristics. The passion and good vibe they bring on stage works contagiously on everyone who takes the opportunity to attend one of their live shows. The band is a mixture of young gifted musicians and old skool cats. Percussionist Ista and guitarist Rafael Devánte are father and son. It shows that the shared lovefor making good music is timeless and from all generations. The inspiration for their musical creations comes from their roots in Hip Hop, Soul, Jazz and Funk such as D’Angelo, J Dilla, A Tribe Called Quest and The Roots. Add a touch of Blues and Rock to complete a total description of their sound.
Potential Criminal
Gooi rap als fundament in een blender met wat funk, rock en soul. Mix het, schenk het en proef Potential Criminal. Potential Criminal heeft haar krachten in Arnhem medio 2011 gebundeld. De hip-hop band heeft sindsdien door het hele land gespeeld, met o.a. optredens op grote festivals zoals: Wallenpop, Zomerterras, Koningsdag Arnhem, Boogiedown en Mañana Mañana. Hoewel de naam Potential Criminal negatief over kan komen, zal je na het luisteren en zien van de groep een andere indruk overhouden. Vooroordelen spelen een grote rol in de bandnaam. Zoals ze zelf zeggen in hun eerste single Foolin You: “Like it or not! Your first impression is fooling you.” Hun sound is duidelijk beïnvloed is door diverse stijlen, dit komt omdat elk bandlid een andere muzikale achtergrond heeft. Het loopt uiteen van jazz tot hip-hop en van rock tot funk.
